Christmas is a time for entertaining friends and family with some good old-fashioned home cooking. And with even more Freedom Food turkey, duck, chicken, pork and salmon than ever available this year, there has never been a better time to trade up to higher welfare.
Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are all stocking Freedom Food turkeys this Christmas and to take advantage of this great opportunity Freedom Food has launched its ‘Scrumptious with Scruples’ Christmas press and online campaign to promote Freedom Food as the higher welfare choice this holiday season.
The campaign featured on Delia online for one month from 16th November. The promotion included a number of articles about Freedom Food, turkey welfare and Christmas cooking, all accessible from the Delia homepage – as well as banner advertising throughout the site.
Delia online is one of the most popular food websites in the UK, receiving nearly 1 million unique visitors every month. And this is only likely to have increased with the release of Delia’s new Christmas cookbook and television programme. The campaign was also featured in the Delia newsletter that goes to 100,000 subscribers.
On top of this a full page advert ran in the December issue of Countryfile Magazine, published on November 19th, with the message ‘Have yourself a higher-welfare Christmas’. The advert directed readers to the Freedom Food website where they could find lots of great recipes, hints and tips as well as more information about where to buy.
The campaign also neatly coincided with the RSPCA’s Good Business Awards supplement in The Independent and The Observer. These supplements featured a two page spread about Freedom Food labelled product availability. The supplement, released on the 21st November also included the Freedom Food Christmas campaign web address and an additional direct link to our Christmas pages was featured on The Independent’s website.
The Freedom Food website has featured more content than ever this Christmas, with almost twenty recipes, including turkey, chicken, duck, pork and salmon, as well as vegetarian options, accompaniments, side dishes and canapés. Other content includes a Christmas cooking time plan, where to buy shopping list, article from food journalist Hattie Ellis along with other engaging, fun facts to be found throughout the site.
We hope to report back on the success of this campaign in the New Year. In the meantime have yourself a merry little Christmas!
